Molybdenum market update on July 27, 2026

On Monday, the overall domestic molybdenum market maintained stable operation. Under a relatively balanced supply-demand relationship, product prices showed no significant fluctuations for the time being, with limited new orders.

Today, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and ammonium heptamolybdate were approximately RMB 5,340/ton-degree, RMB 337,000/ton, and RMB 330,000/ton, respectively. According to CTIA GROUP, stable downstream demand and the difficulty of increasing spot market supply largely support suppliers' confidence in maintaining firm quotations. Recently, steel enterprises that have entered tenders include Hengyang Valin Steel Pipe, Jiangyin Xinxing Special Steel, Shouguang Juneng Special Steel, Shougang Jingtang, Antai Technology, Shangang Co., Ltd., Wuhan Iron and Steel, among others.

In terms of news, according to the monitoring of the China Iron and Steel Association, in June 2026, the average value of the China Steel Price Index (CSPI) was 93.31 points, decreased by 1.92 points month-on-month, down 2.02%; increased by 3.21 points year-on-year, up 3.56%. Among them, the average value of the CSPI long product index was 94.83 points, decreased by 2.38 points month-on-month, down 2.44%; increased by 2.92 points year-on-year, up 3.18%. The average value of the plate index was 91.78 points, decreased by 1.74 points month-on-month, down 1.87%; increased by 3.46 points year-on-year, up 3.91%. As of the end of June 2026, the CSPI was 92.57 points, decreased by 1.82 points month-on-month, down 1.93%; increased by 0.70 points from the end of the previous year, up 0.76%; increased by 3.06 points year-on-year, up 3.42%.
