Molybdenum market update on February 10, 2026

The domestic molybdenum market overall maintained sideways operation.

With the growing atmosphere of the approaching Spring Festival, traders' sentiment for entering the market has somewhat decreased, product prices fluctuated within a narrow range, and new order volume remained limited. Today, molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and ammonium heptamolybdate prices were approximately RMB 4,170 per tonne-degree, RMB 270,000/ton, and RMB 264,000/ton respectively.

From the bullish factors perspective, affected by average market spot supply, relatively strong production cost support, and the good development trend in molybdenum downstream industries, suppliers generally held strong reluctance to sell while supporting prices. From the bearish factors perspective, due to greater market uncertainty during the Spring Festival holiday and tight funding for molybdenum downstream enterprises, market demand volume was not high.

On the news front: Data from the China Iron and Steel Association show that in late January 2026, key statistical steel enterprises produced a total of 21.28 million tons of crude steel, with an average daily output of 1.935 million tons, daily output decreased by 2.2% month-on-month; pig iron 19.15 million tons, average daily output 1.741 million tons, daily output decreased by 3.0% month-on-month; steel products 21.30 million tons, average daily output 1.936 million tons, daily output increased by 3.2% month-on-month. Based on this estimation, national daily crude steel output this ten-day period was 2.39 million tons, decreased by 2.2% month-on-month; daily pig iron output 2.10 million tons, decreased by 3.0% month-on-month; daily steel product output 3.98 million tons, increased by 1.3% month-on-month.
