Molybdenum market update on February 11, 2026

The domestic molybdenum market overall maintained stable operation.

With the approaching Spring Festival holiday, some molybdenum production enterprises have entered reduced production or shutdown status in advance, leading to a decline in output; at the same time, due to relatively abundant previous orders, suppliers generally have weak willingness to ship goods. In addition, some logistics enterprises have suspended operations, and most downstream users have completed phased stockpiling procurement, resulting in weakened market demand. Today, molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and ammonium tetramolybdate prices were approximately RMB 4,170 per tonne-degree, RMB 271,000/ton, and RMB 259,000/ton respectively.

On the news front: Data from the China Iron and Steel Association show that in late January 2026, steel inventory of key statistical steel enterprises was 14.71 million tons, decreased by 1.42 million tons compared to the previous ten-day period, down 8.8%; increased by 570,000 tons from the beginning of the year, up 4.0%; increased by 570,000 tons compared to the same ten-day period last month, up 4.0%; decreased by 640,000 tons compared to the same ten-day period last year, down 4.2%; increased by 2.51 million tons compared to the same ten-day period the year before last, up 20.6%. By region, Northeast region steel inventory decreased by 420,000 tons, North China region steel inventory decreased by 250,000 tons, East China region steel inventory decreased by 400,000 tons, Southwest region steel inventory decreased by 60,000 tons, Central and South China region steel inventory decreased by 300,000 tons, and Northwest region steel inventory increased by 10,000 tons.
