Production Methods of Nano Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2)

Nano molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has a lots of production methods and each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, so we should depend on concrete usage, requirement and actual condition to determine. The production method of MoS2 generally divided into physical method, chemical method and physico-chemical synthesis method. On the other hand, according to reaction mechanism, the production methods can be divided to reduction method, decomposition method, oxidation style, electrochemistry method, mechanical ball milling method, high energy physics method and single molybdenum disulfide heavy accumulation method. And according to production state it can be divided into solid phase method, liquid phase method and vapor phase method.

Physical method generally will not destroy the natural lattice of molybdenum disulfide, but it has high requirement on equipment and obtains fewer product types. Thermal physical method makes massivematerial heating and evaporation in vacuum and the evaporated atom or molecule in inert gas can cool to be nano-powder.

Chemical method, namely, through chemical reaction produces MoS2. This method is more flexible than physical method and the products are more purity as well so it can produce different functional requirement MoS2. During production process can through control reaction conditions to reduce particles size and to obtain nano MoS2. According to reaction types chemical method can be divided into reduction method, oxidation method, and electrochemical method. Reduction method uses suitable reluctant reducing Mo (Ⅴ) and Mo (Ⅵ) to Mo (Ⅳ). To control the reaction condition can produce nano MoS2.
