After study the TZM alloy plate blank’s organization which has different La2O3 content found the alloy plate blanks have shrinkage phenomenon, relatively smooth surface, without cracking, bubble and other common defects. Density and hardness of the sintered alloy plate blanks have reached the theoretical requirements, even more than the theoretical requirements. And with an increase in the amount of La2O3 particles, plate blanks hardness increases.
The shrinkage phenomenon of alloy plate blanks is due to the steel pressing plate blanks there are a lot of voids inside the plate, after sintering completion greatly reduce the number of pores, causing the alloy plate shrinkage. Adding La2O3 particles in the TZM alloy the dispersed La2O3 particles will fill the pores, making alloy plate density, but also makes the plate shrinkage reduce. The pores inside of TZM alloy plate smaller, the organization of it will more dense tissue, to resist external beat into the ability of surface will more greater so that the hardness also improved.
In addition, by studying the microstructure of the sintered plate alloy discovers that the alloy adding La2O3 the grain refinement more obvious. With the increase of La2O3 particles, grain refinement effect is more pronounced. This is because in the initial sintering, La2O3 particles dispersed in the surface of molybdenum powder which plays an important effect on bonding powder particles and crystal combination so inhibit grain growth. Sintered late, La2O3 particles as dispersoids hinder grain boundary migration, so the grain is refined.
