TZM alloy chemical composition shown in the following table, according to the ASTM standard, generally titanium content is 0.40 to 0.55%. Zirconium content is 0.06 to 0.12% and carbon content is 0.01 to 0.04%, the balance being Mo. The O and Si impurity elements should be strictly controlled to. Because after pre-sintering the alloy blank has a higher O, then during the sintered there will have a lot of pores generate at grain boundaries, reduce grain boundary strength. The Si prone to inclusion at the grain boundaries will adversely affect the performance of the alloy. So in TZM alloy, O content should be controlled at 0.002%, Si content should be controlled 0.001% or less.
TZM alloy Ti, Zr and C added in an amount of at most 0.71%, due to these small amounts of elements so that the mechanical properties of molybdenum are greatly improved at room and elevated temperatures. Besides, the recrystallization temperature higher than molybdenum about 300 ℃ and welding performance has been improvements which can welding with steel and other materials. After data found that the TZM performance is better than the molybdenum alloy TZM performance, whether it is at a low temperature, room temperature or high-temperature phase. And the tensile strength of TZM alloy are higher than molybdenum, when the test temperature up to 1000 ℃, TZM alloy pull tensile strength up to 524MPa, which is 2 times of molybdenum. What’s more the elongation of ZTM alloys was also higher than molybdenum which mean TZM alloy has better illustrate plasticity.
