According study the experimental data found that at different annealing temperatures, mechanical properties of titanium zirconium molybdenum (TZM) alloy appeared different changes. On the one hand, as the annealing temperature increase, the elongation increased and hardening phenomenon waning. On the other hand, the tensile strength of TZM alloys decrease when the annealing temperature decreased.
The reason for at low temperature the tensile strength is high is the carbide phase and other strengthen phase particles after deformation processing become fibrous, distributed in the grain boundary and grain. And then after high temperature annealing, these enhancements phase dispersed in the substrate uniformly, so at the high temperature the performance of tensile strength is low. When annealing temperature at 850 ~ 1150℃, the material is in the recovery phase, TZM alloy ductility has significant increase. With the temperature increasing, the grain will grow increase gradually. When grain coarsening is not very serious, the ductility of the alloy is still on an increasing trend. On the other hand, grain coarsening severe, the plastic of alloy also decreases. With annealing temperature increasing, TZM alloy completed reply-recrystallization- grain growth process, wherein the alloy by fibrous tissue becomes equiaxed grains, while toughness of the alloy has also been greatly improved and the elongation even up to 37%.
