Tensile properties mainly refers to the material can be obtained by tensile tests such as flexibility, strength, ductility, and toughness which are other important mechanical properties. After the experiment found that adding a small amount TiC / ZrC, the titanium zirconium molybdenum (TZM) alloy’s tensile properties can be significantly improved. And with the added amount of carbides increase the room temperature tensile strength of two kind alloys increase at first and then decrease. When the amount of TiC / ZrC additive is 0.4%, the alloy strength reached the highest value. What’s more, the alloy which adding ZrC performance is better than adding s a small amount of TiC alloys.
Adding small amount of TiC / ZrC, the strength of TZM alloy has been significantly improved and the main reason is grain refinement and second phase particles dispersion strengthening effect. With the increase of TiC/ZrC, the number of second phase dispersed particles is increase and grain refinement effect is more significant as well, so that the strength of the alloy is also significantly improved. But when the amount of carbide is too high dispersed in the grain boundary brittle second phase particles are too much will lead to the toughness of the alloy decreased.
