Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum Alloy Aluminide Coating Method Research

After the study found, the aluminide coating can effectively improve the oxidation resistance of TZM alloy. The methods of aluminide coatings producing have pack cementation and hot-dip coating method. Related scholars using pack cementation method and hot-dip coating method to produce TZM alloy surface oxidation resistant coating of aluminum compounds with separately and study these two methods as well.
The study found, using solid powder pack aluminum cementation method will form a uniform dense diffusion aluminide layer on TZM alloy surface. The pack aluminum cementation layer composes of Al2Mo, Al5Mo, Al4Mo and other metal compounds and coating surface is grainy. Besides the microhardness increased by 2 times than TZM alloy substrate and aluminide coating is higher than substrate coating. What’s more, after oxide the coating and the substrate bonding strength is still very good.
And prepared aluminide coatings by hot dipping method, which the product is combine with aluminum layer on the surface, inner layer of the alloy layer and the substrate composition. By the way, the alloy layer is mainly making up by Al4Mo and Al5Mo aluminum and other metal compounds, the thickness of the alloy layer and the alloy layer thickness will increase with the hot dip aluminum elevated and time increased. In addition, adding 0.3% mass of cerium can help to improve hot-dip aluminized layer’s structure which can be refined grains.
