Common strengthening mechanisms of titanium zirconium molybdenum (TZM) alloy are as follows:
1. The solution strengthening: Titanium, zirconium and other elements react with molybdenum based will form a solid strengthening.
2. The second phase strengthening: titanium, zirconium and other elements in combination with carbon will obtain carbide phase, namely second phase strengthening.
3. Other ways strengthening methods: TZM alloy by deformation or heat-treated can get strengthen, or effective control the oxygen content of TZM alloy can also play important role in alloy strengthening.
Here will introduce adding rare earth oxides to strengthen the performance of TZN alloy, so that is can apply in many other fields. After a series of studies found that adding rare earth elements of LaO3 can refine TZM alloy particles. With the increase of the amount of particles LaO3, refining effect increases and La2O3 particles are simultaneously distributed in the grain boundary and grain, making TZM alloy’s toughness significantly improved.
