TZM alloy hot runner plastic injection nozzle

Plastic injection molding is a manufacturing process for plastic products. Runner is responsible for delivering the liquid plastic, by which liquid plastic injects into a mold.

Nozzle materials need to withstand high mechanical stresses in the environment at a temperature of 400 °C. Plastic varieties involve one of the key factors. Many types of plastic materials contain additives to increase strength, such as glass fibers or dyes. This means that the wear resistance of the material of the nozzle with the nozzle opening equally good thermal conductivity is particularly important.

In order to extend the life and maintain tooling time and downtime to a minimum, we use TZM alloy manufactures its hot runner nozzles. We developed molybdenum alloy, solid solution strengthening of molybdenum and titanium got dissolved titanium - zirconium carbide, greatly enhance the mechanical properties of high-temperature environments. This facilitates application of high-temperature furnace. Although the plastic injection molding applications proceed at relatively moderate temperatures, but TZM alloy has its advantages here. Compared to other materials, the excellent thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance of TZM alloy make hot runners have a decisive advantage. Moreover, the hardness and tensile strength of the alloy are higher than pure molybdenum, making the material more dynamic.
