China’s molybdenum ore resources are very rich, but China's production of molybdenum products are mainly primary products, and it is still a large gap compares to foreign technology products Poor oxidation resistance of molybdenum,limits the scope of molybdenum application. Existing molybdenum alloy such as TZM alloy although has excellent high temperature mechanical properties, but still needs to be improved wear resistance.
A large number of domestic and foreign studyies found that join modified elements in molybdenum alloy or oxidation resistant coating can improve the oxidation resistance of molybdenum.The latter is much better than former. Therefore, the future major trends of the molybdenum alloy is to develop anti-oxidation coating that can be good in conjunction with molybdenum alloy matrix. In addition,add hardness and high melting point of the hard phase such as carbides and nitrides in molybdenum alloys is another future research and development direction of molybdenum
