Molybdenum market update on July 13, 2026

On Monday, the overall domestic molybdenum market maintained a high-level stable operation.

Against the background of strong sentiment among molybdenum mining enterprises to hold back goods and be bullish, and average willingness of downstream users to make inquiries and purchases, product prices showed no significant fluctuations for the time being, with limited new orders. Today, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and ammonium heptamolybdate are approximately RMB 5,280/ton-degree, RMB 333,000/ton, and RMB 326,000/ton, respectively. Recently, steel enterprises that have invited bids for ferromolybdenum include Zhongnan Iron and Steel, Pangang Group, Hengyang Valin Steel Tube, and Dongfang Special Steel, with bid prices around RMB 328,000/ton.

In terms of news, data from the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) shows that in late June 2026, the steel products inventory of key surveyed steel enterprises was 16.28 million tons, decreased by 1.62 million tons from the previous ten-day period, a decrease of 9.1%; increased by 2.14 million tons compared to the beginning of the year, an increase of 15.1%; increased by 450,000 tons compared to the same ten-day period of the previous month, an increase of 2.8%; increased by 830,000 tons compared to the same ten-day period of last year, an increase of 5.4%; and increased by 1.59 million tons compared to the same ten-day period of the year before last, an increase of 10.8%. By region, steel products inventory decreased by 440,000 tons in Northeast China, decreased by 90,000 tons in North China, decreased by 800,000 tons in East China, decreased by 40,000 tons in Southwest China, decreased by 290,000 tons in Central South China, and increased by 40,000 tons in Northwest China.
