Molybdenum market update on July 10, 2026

This week, the overall domestic molybdenum prices showed a trend of first stabilizing and then rising.

At the beginning of the week, affected by factors such as the slight price increase of molybdenum last week and its relatively high level, downstream users had a relatively low willingness to make inquiries and purchases, and suppliers lacked sufficient momentum to raise prices again, resulting in product prices maintaining stable operation. Approaching the weekend, low-priced molybdenum concentrate was difficult to source and production costs were relatively high, forcing intermediate smelting enterprises to slightly raise their quotations. Coupled with some molybdenum mining enterprises raising prices for shipments, this further prompted product prices to move upward. Recently, a mining enterprise in Jiangxi sold 192 tons of 40%-45% molybdenum concentrate at a transaction price of RMB 5,250/ton-degree, and 192 tons of 45-50% molybdenum concentrate at a transaction price of RMB 5,295/ton-degree.

According to statistics from CTIA GROUP, this week the price of molybdenum concentrate increased by approximately RMB 20/ton-degree, an increase of 0.38%; the price of ferromolybdenum increased by approximately RMB 6,000/ton, an increase of 1.52%; the price of molybdenum oxide increased by approximately RMB 20/ton-degree, an increase of 0.38%; the price of sodium molybdate increased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton, an increase of 0.89%; the price of ammonium heptamolybdate increased by approximately RMB 4,000/ton, an increase of 1.24%; and the price of molybdenum powder increased by approximately RMB 5/kg, an increase of 0.84%.

In terms of news, data from the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) shows that in late June 2026, key surveyed steel enterprises produced a total of 22.18 million tons of steel products, with an average daily output of 2.218 million tons, increased by 8.3% month-on-month in daily output. By region, the daily steel product output increased by 33,000 tons in Northeast China, by 78,000 tons in North China, by 17,000 tons in East China, by 6,000 tons in Northwest China, by 3,000 tons in Southwest China, and by 33,000 tons in Central South China.
