Molybdenum market update on June 26, 2026

This week, the overall domestic molybdenum market remained stable with a weak trend, mainly reflected in slight declines in the prices of most products and slow order growth.

According to CTIA GROUP, the increase in molybdenum prices last week, coupled with the mediocre performance of the steel market, resulted in relatively weak downstream inquiry and purchasing willingness this week, and some suppliers' confidence in maintaining stable prices declined. However, supported by relatively strong production costs and the limited increase in spot market supply, product prices decreased only slightly.

According to statistics from CTIA GROUP, the prices of molybdenum concentrate and molybdenum oxide showed no significant fluctuation this week; ferromolybdenum prices decreased by approximately RMB 3,000/ton, a decrease of 0.91%; sodium molybdate prices decreased by approximately RMB 3,000/ton, a decrease of 1.32%; ammonium heptamolybdate prices decreased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton, a decrease of 0.62%; and molybdenum powder prices decreased by approximately RMB 5/kg, a decrease of 0.83%.

In terms of market news, data from the China Iron and Steel Association showed that in mid-June 2026, key steel enterprises produced a total of 21.00 million tons of crude steel, with an average daily output of 2.100 million tons, increased by 0.8% month-on-month. By region, the average daily crude steel output increased by 0.3 million tons in Northeast China, increased by 1.1 million tons in North China, increased by 0.2 million tons in East China, increased by 0.3 million tons in Northwest China, increased by 0.3 million tons in Central and South China, and decreased by 0.4 million tons in Southwest China.
