1. Analysis of China’s Molybdenum Price Trend in April 2026

According to CTIA GROUP, in April 2026, the prices of molybdenum products in China showed a fluctuating upward trend, with the increase accelerating.

This was mainly attributed to continued upward pressure on shipments from molybdenum mining enterprises and relatively favorable quantity and price performance of steel tenders. Molybdenum mining enterprises generally held back sales to raise prices for the following reasons: first, due to stricter environmental policies, declining ore grades, maintenance of some enterprises, and relatively high energy prices, the capacity release of some molybdenum mines was limited, resulting in tight spot supply; second, steel enterprises were transitioning from ordinary steel to special steel and high-end alloy steel, increasing molybdenum consumption; third, the international molybdenum market recovered, coupled with potential impacts of geopolitical environment on raw material supply, further strengthening domestic raw material suppliers’ bullish sentiment.

In April 2026, the price of molybdenum concentrate increased by RMB 340/ton-degree, increased by 7.69%; ferromolybdenum increased by RMB 17,000/ton, increased by 6.01%; molybdenum oxide increased by RMB 340/ton-degree, increased by 7.52%; sodium molybdate increased by RMB 8,000/ton, increased by 3.96%; ammonium tetramolybdate increased by RMB 11,000/ton, increased by 3.94%; ammonium heptamolybdate increased by RMB 11,000/ton, increased by 3.89%; molybdenum powder increased by RMB 19/kg, increased by 3.54%; molybdenum rods increased by RMB 22/kg, increased by 4.09%.

In April 2026, the average prices of most molybdenum products in China increased both month-on-month and year-on-year. Among them, the average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 4,577/ton-degree, increased by 3.25% month-on-month, increased by 36.46% year-on-year; ferromolybdenum RMB 292,048/ton, increased by 3.02% month-on-month, increased by 34.16% year-on-year; molybdenum oxide RMB 4,677/ton-degree, increased by 3.18% month-on-month, increased by 34.98% year-on-year; sodium molybdate RMB 205,476/ton, increased by 1.72% month-on-month, increased by 31.79% year-on-year; ammonium tetramolybdate RMB 283,952/ton, increased by 1.77% month-on-month, increased by 32.52% year-on-year; ammonium heptamolybdate RMB 287,952/ton, increased by 1.75% month-on-month, increased by 32.14% year-on-year; molybdenum powder RMB 544/kg, increased by 1.68% month-on-month, increased by 34.65% year-on-year; molybdenum rods RMB 549/kg, increased by 2.04% month-on-month, increased by 23.93% year-on-year.

From January to April 2026, the average prices of most molybdenum products in China increased year-on-year. The average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 4,328/ton-degree, increased by 24.69% year-on-year; ferromolybdenum RMB 278,089/ton, increased by 23.50% year-on-year; molybdenum oxide RMB 4,420/ton-degree, increased by 23.53% year-on-year; sodium molybdate RMB 195,975/ton, increased by 22.05% year-on-year; ammonium tetramolybdate RMB 268,899/ton, increased by 22.31% year-on-year; ammonium heptamolybdate RMB 273,215/ton, increased by 22.20% year-on-year; molybdenum powder RMB 517/kg, increased by 24.88% year-on-year; molybdenum rods RMB 520/kg, increased by 15.04% year-on-year.
