Molybdenum Powder Price - June 26, 2023

At the beginning of the week, China’s ferro molybdenum, molybdenum powder and oxide prices remain unchanged on June 26, 2023. Inquiries from downstream users are acceptable, most suppliers have strong confidence in raising prices, and the actual transaction volume increases.

From the perspective of the supply side, the current market spot inventory is not very large, mainly due to the strong awareness of profit-taking by the previous holders, the small import of overseas molybdenum raw materials, the limited output of molybdenum manufacturers in the near future, and the increase in market demand. Factors such as the arrival of the Dragon Boat Festival, rising temperatures and unrelenting efforts to crack down on environmental protection are the main reasons for the slow production speed of molybdenum manufacturers.

From the perspective of demand, although the price of steel is not very impressive, most steel companies still have a high enthusiasm for bidding for ferromolybdenum, supported by the good development of steel downstream industries such as construction, automobile and machinery manufacturing. Recently, the steel companies that entered the market to bid for ferromolybdenum include Hengyang Valin Steel Pipe, Shougang, Heye Technology and Dalian Special Steel.

In terms of news: data from the World Steel Association shows that in May 2023, the crude steel output of the 63 countries included in the statistics of the World Steel Association in the world will be 161.6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.1%. Among them, the crude steel output of Africa was 1.3 million tons, an increase of 18.6% year-on-year; the crude steel output of Asia and Oceania was 119.5 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.0%; the crude steel output of the European Union (27 countries) was 11.6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11.2%; Crude steel production in other European countries was 3.7 million tons, down 7.7% year-on-year; crude steel production in the Middle East was 4.4 million tons, up 4.3% year-on-year; crude steel production in North America was 9.6 million tons, down 3.7% year-on-year; Russia and other CIS The crude steel output of the country + Ukraine was 7.9 million tons, an increase of 11.5% year-on-year; the crude steel output of South America was 3.6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.2%.
