The overall situation of the Chinese molybdenum market is not good, which is mainly reflected in the low sentiment of traders entering the market, the obvious decline in the price of molybdenum products, and the small actual transaction volume.

According to Chinatungsten Online, the current prices of molybdenum concentrate and molybdenum oxide have both fallen below 3,000 yuan/ton. In the case of a sharp drop in the price of molybdenum raw materials, the quotations of sodium molybdate, ammonium heptamolybdate and molybdenum powder have also dropped. 

In the molybdenum concentrate market, the transaction volume and price need to be improved. Although supported by the production cost and the general release speed of the molybdenum mining enterprises' production capacity, suppliers generally have a strong sense of firm quotation, but it is still difficult to offset the weak downstream demand brought harm to the market.

In the ferromolybdenum market, the fundamentals of supply and demand are weak. Under the influence of the continuous decline in the price of stainless steel, the speed of steel companies entering the market to bid for ferromolybdenum has slowed down, and the sentiment of lowering prices has increased, which has led to the price of ferromolybdenum falling below 200,000 yuan/ton. 

In the market of molybdenum chemical and its products, the overall situation is that there is a price but no market. It is difficult to improve the purchasing status of end customers and the lack of confidence in price stabilization in the upstream market is the main reason why it is difficult for molybdenum chemical companies to enter the market.

In terms of news: According to data from the China Iron and Steel Association, in late March 2023, the social inventory of five major varieties of steel in 21 cities was 12.31 million tons, a decrease of 3.2% from the previous month, a decrease of 9.4% from the end of February, and an increase of 63.7% from the beginning of the year. It was down 10.2% over the same period. In terms of regions, North China decreased by 13.8%, South China decreased by 6.5%, Northwest decreased by 6.2%, East China decreased by 2.4%, Central China decreased by 3.3%, northeast inventory increased by 19.2%, and southwest increased by 0.8%.
