The Phase Change of Mo-Ti-Zr-C System at TZM Alloy Equilibrium State

This article was aimed to research the phase change of Mo-Ti-Zr-C system when TZM alloy at equilibrium state. At the early time, Soviet scientists has done some research about the Mo-Ti-Zr-C four component system tetrahedron rich Mo area’s phase equilibrium and he setted up some isotherm on Mo-Ti-Zr-C tetrahedron’s original section.
In TZM alloy, when carbon content is 0.06% and Ti, Zr content is low than 0.5% and 0.7%, TZM alloy at 2100℃ is single phase α-solid solution structures. When Ti and Zr content is higher there will have (Ti,Zr)C-TiC and ZrC’s solid solution in TZM alloy. With the temperature decrease, the area of α-solid solution decrease and at 1200℃ completely disappear. Besides, the third phaseα+(Ti,Zr)C enlarge at the same time. What ‘s more, there will has new doubleα+Mo2C phase. The last one is α+Mo2C+(Ti,Zr)C third phase. The TZM multicomponent alloys which contents 0.12% carbon and we can observer similar change of phase.
From the researches we can know that at higher (Ti+Zr)/C atomic rate area, TZM alloy cooling process will happen some series changes: α-solid solution→α+Mo2C→α+Mo2C+(Ti,Zr)C. On contrary, when the area has low (Ti+Zr)/C atomic rate will happen α+Mo2C→α+Mo2C+(Ti,Zr)C change.
