Using solid-solid method to dop 0.08% (mass quality) Zr powder, different amount of TiH2 powder (0.4%,0.6%,0.8%) and appropriate amount C powder (0.08%,0.08%,0.11%) well mixed and pressed to TZM rod. Analysis the effect of different Ti dopping mount on microstructure of TZM alloy which can produce better quality titanium zirconium molybdenum alloy (TZM alloy).
After observing TZM alloy’s SEM picture found with Ti dopping amount increase Ti and Zr gathering in grain boundary are more intense which exist with crumbing black. Ti and Zr’s oxide or simple substance can prevent dislocation glide in the alloy, cause grain boundary embrittlement and influence alloy’s mechanical properties.
The alloy will easy craze during pressing When dopping lots of oxide. Zr,Ti and other strengthening elements in Mo has low solubility so they dopping mount usually small. In TZM alloy the dopping amount of Zr is about 0.1% and Ti is about 0.45%.
