Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum Alloy Rods

Titanium zirconium molybdenum (TZM) alloy rods are widely used in industrial and medical diagnostic equipment. Compared to other bars, the performance indicators of TZM alloy rod are higher and the producing characterized of it is large blank diameter, large piece weight and hard to forging. At present, producing TZM alloy rods mainly use free forging methods.
In the producing process use the blank which the diameter is 180mm and the density is 9.8g/cm3 to produce TZM alloy rods. Wherein the chemical composition of the blank as follows: Ti: 0.47, Zr: 0.07, C: 0.01 ~ 0.04, O: 0.027, Fe: ≤0.01, Ni: ≤0.002, Si: ≤0.005. Free forging equipment use 3t electro-hydraulic hammer, while heating uses a hydrogen molybdenum wire furnace, and the forging temperature at 1000 ~ 1300 ℃. After forging, TZM rods at 1100 ℃ annealing for 1h.
In order to study the performance of forged TZM alloy rods, producing three kinds of rods and the total processing rates were 60%, 70%, 80%, and then sampled to text its hardness, microstructure, hardness and tensile. Besides, to analysis and detect the fracture behavior after strench.
