Improve titanium zirconium molybdenum alloy high temperature oxidation resistance commonly methods is alloying and coating method. But studies show that alloying degree of molybdenum is small, when adding too much alloy elements which is to improve oxidation resistance of the TZM alloy the processing performance of alloy may deteriorate, or even do not have room remodeling. What’s more it may also affect the high temperature strength, impact resistance, thermal shock resistance and creep resistance of the TZM alloy.
For this reason, many scholars have begun to study how to improve TZM alloy high temperature oxidation resistance by alloying method, hoping to simultaneously improve high temperature oxidation resistance and reducing the damage in other properties of the alloy, but found that didn’t work. The main reason is that TZM alloy at 1300 ℃ has the best rolling temperature but the Mo-Si-B alloys are brittle. There is a contradiction between TZM alloy and Mo-Si-B alloys, so alloying can not improve the antioxidant properties of TZM alloy truly.
So TZM alloy often coating on surface to prevent oxidation. Common high temperature oxidation resistant coating methods have aluminide coatings, silicide coatings, heat-resistant alloy coating and precious metal coating.
