Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum Alloys Deformation Strengthening Method

Deformation strengthening is an important enhancement means not only for molybdenum but also for titanium zirconium molybdenum (TZM) alloys. After deformation strengthening, strength, plasticity and ductility-brittleness have been greatly improved. Deformation strengthening methods are the following: forging, extrusion, hot rolling and so on. To taking deformation strengthening methods should depend on different shape and requirements of product.
During producing TZM rods, the most common approach of deformation strengthening is hot extrusion. The alloy extrusion along axis direction shows the ductility and at the vertical extrusion direction shows the brittleness. TZM alloy after hot rolling at 1200℃ above the yield strength of the alloy increased, but not reduced of elongation. Meanwhile alloy after hot rolled to form a sub-structure organization and this sub-structure organization’s grain (secondary grain) at about 500nm which is secondary grains would be refined grains in some degree. What’s more, hot rolled will increase dislocation density of alloy, so that to improve alloy strength.
