Impurity Influence Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum Alloy’s Properties

After a lot of studies have found that titanium zirconium molybdenum (TZM) alloy shaping-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) and fracture mode are influence by crystal size, crystal morphology, void density, structure, alloying elements and the second phase particles distribution. Therefore, during the production need to control the quality content of TZM alloy’s adding elements and impurity elements, because it has a crucial impact on alloy‘s mechanical properties. There are strict requirements of oxygen and silicon. Because the green body of TZM alloy after pre-sintering still has high oxygen content, then it will create a void in the grain boundary during sintering, thereby reducing the strength of the alloy. On the other hand, if the silicon element content is large and it will cause inclusions in alloy grain boundaries, which will result adverse effects on the properties of the TZM alloy. So titanium zirconium molybdenum alloys has good tensile at low temperatures should meet these requirements which are fine particle raw material, low oxygen content and carbon oxygen ratio.
