Molybdenum

Molybdenum is a gray transition metal and it doesn’t have native metal form in on earth metal. Besides, it shows in minerals by oxide with various forms and shapes. The physical properties of molybdenum are as follows: the chemical formula: Mo, atomic number: 42, atomic weight: 95.94, melting point: 2623 ℃ which ranked sixth highest in all metals, boiling point :4639 ℃, the density : 10.28g • cm-3, CAS number: 7439-98-7. It is easy to form a hard, stable carbides in the alloy, therefore, most of the world molybdenum are used as some kind of ferroalloy, including high-strength alloys and superalloys. In addition most of the molybdenum compound slightly soluble in water, but contact with oxygen and water when mineral containing molybdenum and molybdenum ions can be formed. In industry, molybdenum compounds are used for high pressure and high temperature applications products, such as pigments or catalysts.
Molybdenum is mainly used in the steel industry, accounting for about 80% of the total consumption of molybdenum, followed by the chemical industry, accounting for about 10%. In addition, molybdenum is also used in electrical and electronic technology, medicine and agriculture fields, accounting for about 10% of total consumption.
