Effects on Struture of TZM Alloy Sintered Compact with Different Doping Method

TZM alloy (0.4%-0.55%Ti,0..6%-0.12%Zr, 0.01%-0.04%C) is one of the most widely applied molybdenum alloy. TZM alloy has high melting point,high strength, high elastic modulus, good corrosion resistance and good mechanics performance. This study aimed to improve the property of TZM, proposed a new kind of La doped TZM alloy. By solid-soild and soild-liquid doping method,sintering, TZM and a new kind of La doped TZM alloy were manufactured, that Mo, Ti, Zr were doped in the form of powder while La, C were doped in the form of lanthanum nitrate,lanthanum oxide and stearic acid, graphite powder.
The structure and property of TZM alloy were prepared by different process. The results show: The solid-liquid method was better than tranditional methods. With improved doping method and processing technology, the strength of La doped TZM alloy reaches 342MPa, while the tensile rate 1.54%. The La doping is the key factor of making TZM be toughened and reinforce.
Pinning at grain boundary slipping effectively and decrease dislocation distribution function, which inhibites grain growth, and makes the TZM alloy toughened and reinforced at the same time. Carbon doping makes grain size smaller and more homogeneous (0.06%)。 The method of carbon doping affects less in property, but the stearic acid doping has a good effect on pressing and sintering, and increase of 10% and 4%respectively.
