Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum Alloy Introduction

Titanium zirconium molybdenum alloy (TZM) is a kind of molybdenum alloy which is made of 0.50% of titanium and 0.08% of zirconium, and 0.02% of carbon. It is a kind of high temperature alloy, and molybdenum alloy with solid solution hardening and grain strengthening. The development of a titanium molybdenum solid solution and good dispersion of titanium carbide for good strength properties at temperatures up to 1400 ° C TZM recrystallization temperature is about 250 ° C, higher than molybdenum, therefore TZM molybdenum provides a better weldability.

TZM

Clay Max molybdenum companies in the United States has produced the first batch of TZM alloy ingot in 1956. In the late 1950s, TZM alloy material, which became the best common molybdenum alloy in the 70s, can be mass-produced with casting method. China started to research TZM alloy with casting method in the mid of 60s, and has carried on the large-scale test in the 70s, and has the production capacity of TZM alloy products with casting and powder metallurgy method .

TZM alloy has high recrystallization temperature and higher strength and hardness than pure molybdenum at high temperature. It also has enough extensibility. Because of the molybdenum dispersed in matrix composite carbide circular arc, it has superior mechanical properties. TZM alloy is fit for hot work, because it is the combination of the application of high temperature, high hardness, good thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion of hot work steel.
