I. Analysis of China's molybdenum price market in September 2026

According to CTIA GROUP, in September 2026, the Chinese molybdenum market showed a high and strengthening trend, mainly attributable to stable downstream demand, tight spot supply of raw materials, and good international molybdenum market conditions. In September, the total volume of ferromolybdenum tenders was approximately 12,000 tons.

In September, molybdenum raw material prices showed a trend of stabilizing first, then rising, and then stabilizing again. In the first ten days, downstream users mainly purchased on rigid demand, coupled with weak supplier willingness to reduce prices for shipments, making it difficult for market prices to rise or fall. On September 15–16, molybdenum mining enterprises raised prices for shipments, driving many holders to significantly raise their quotations, for example, the price of molybdenum concentrate increased by RMB 50/ton-degree, and the price of ferromolybdenum increased by RMB 4,000/ton. Entering the last ten days, prices maintained a narrow-range fluctuation pattern at high levels.

In September, price trends of molybdenum chemical products was relatively gentle. Among them, the prices of sodium molybdate, ammonium heptamolybdate, and molybdenum powder were consolidating at around RMB 233,000/ton, RMB 333,000/ton, and RMB 610/kg, respectively.

II. Average prices of molybdenum products in September 2026

In September 2026, the average prices of most Chinese molybdenum products increased both month-on-month and year-on-year. Among them, the average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 5,465/ton-degree, increased by 1.02% month-on-month, and increased by 20.99% year-on-year; the average price of ferromolybdenum was RMB 342,682/ton, increased by 0.62% month-on-month, and increased by 19.26% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum oxide was RMB 5,575/ton-degree, increased by 1.12% month-on-month, and increased by 20.91% year-on-year; the average price of sodium molybdate was RMB 233,000/ton, increased by 0.18% month-on-month, and increased by 15.45% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium tetramolybdate was RMB 327,000/ton, increased by 0.34% month-on-month, and increased by 20.36% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium heptamolybdate was RMB 333,000/ton, increased by 0.42% month-on-month, and increased by 20.79% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum powder was RMB 610/kg, increased by 0.16% month-on-month, and increased by 19.61% year-on-year; and the average price of molybdenum bars was RMB 615/kg, increased by 0.16% month-on-month, and increased by 19.42% year-on-year.

From July to September 2026, the average prices of most Chinese molybdenum products increased both month-on-month and year-on-year. The average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 5,388/ton-degree, increased by 9.78% quarter-on-quarter, and increased by 25.65% year-on-year; the average price of ferromolybdenum was RMB 338,894/ton, increased by 8.96% quarter-on-quarter, and increased by 23.71% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum oxide was RMB 5,484/ton-degree, increased by 9.72% quarter-on-quarter, and increased by 24.69% year-on-year; the average price of sodium molybdate was RMB 231,333/ton, increased by 6.20% quarter-on-quarter, and increased by 19.37% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium tetramolybdate was RMB 324,561/ton, increased by 7.76% quarter-on-quarter, and increased by 25.12% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium heptamolybdate was RMB 330,470/ton, increased by 8.16% quarter-on-quarter, and increased by 25.43% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum powder was RMB 607/kg, increased by 5.38% quarter-on-quarter, and increased by 25.41% year-on-year; and the average price of molybdenum bars was RMB 612/kg, increased by 5.34% quarter-on-quarter, and increased by 23.39% year-on-year.

From January to September 2026, the average prices of most Chinese molybdenum products increased year-on-year. Among them, the average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 4,869/ton-degree, increased by 27.53% year-on-year; the average price of ferromolybdenum was RMB 309,059/ton, increased by 25.59% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum oxide was RMB 4,961/ton-degree, increased by 26.46% year-on-year; the average price of sodium molybdate was RMB 214,719/ton, increased by 23.49% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium tetramolybdate was RMB 297,692/ton, increased by 26.20% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium heptamolybdate was RMB 302,627/ton, increased by 26.09% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum powder was RMB 566/kg, increased by 27.77% year-on-year; and the average price of molybdenum bars was RMB 570/kg, increased by 21.02% year-on-year.
