Price Trends of Molybdenum Products in August 2026

I. Analysis of China's molybdenum price market in August 2026

According to CTIA GROUP, the overall China molybdenum market in August 2026 performed reasonably well, mainly manifested in prices of most products at the end of the month being higher than at the beginning of the month, generally good sentiment among traders, and relatively many new orders.

In August, the total volume of ferromolybdenum tenders was approximately 14,000 tons.

In August, the price of 40-45% molybdenum concentrate increased by approximately RMB 70/ton-degree, up 1.30%; the price of ferromolybdenum increased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton, up 1.48%; the price of molybdenum oxide increased by approximately RMB 80/ton-degree, up 1.46%; the price of sodium molybdate increased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton, up 0.87%; the price of ammonium heptamolybdate increased by approximately RMB 3,000/ton, up 0.91%; and the price of molybdenum bars increased by approximately RMB 2/kg, up 0.33%. It can be seen that although the prices of mainstream molybdenum products rose in August, the increase was relatively small due to low acceptance of high-priced sources by downstream users.

The upward movement of molybdenum prices in August was mainly **driven by** stable downstream demand and tight spot supply of raw materials, with some molybdenum mining enterprises raising prices for shipments, prompting downstream suppliers to increase their quotations.

II. Average prices of molybdenum products in August 2026

In August 2026, the average prices of most Chinese molybdenum products increased both month-on-month and year-on-year. Among them, the average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 5,410/ton-degree, increased by 2.21% month-on-month, and increased by 24.14% year-on-year; the average price of ferromolybdenum was RMB 340,571/ton, increased by 2.05% month-on-month, and increased by 21.74% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum oxide was RMB 5,513/ton-degree, increased by 2.68% month-on-month, and increased by 23.44% year-on-year; the average price of sodium molybdate was RMB 232,571/ton, increased by 1.73% month-on-month, and increased by 16.76% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium tetramolybdate was RMB 325,905/ton, increased by 1.53% month-on-month, and increased by 23.49% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium heptamolybdate was RMB 331,619/ton, increased by 1.41% month-on-month, and increased by 23.78% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum powder was RMB 609/kg, increased by 1.00% month-on-month, and increased by 23.28% year-on-year; and the average price of molybdenum bars was RMB 614/kg, increased by 0.99% month-on-month, and increased by 23.54% year-on-year.

From January to August 2026, the average prices of most Chinese molybdenum products increased year-on-year. Among them, the average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 4,789/ton-degree, increased by 28.77% year-on-year; the average price of ferromolybdenum was RMB 304,521/ton, increased by 26.77% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum oxide was RMB 4,878/ton-degree, increased by 27.53% year-on-year; the average price of sodium molybdate was RMB 212,252/ton, increased by 24.93% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium tetramolybdate was RMB 293,736/ton, increased by 27.26% year-on-year; the average price of ammonium heptamolybdate was RMB 298,528/ton, increased by 27.06% year-on-year; the average price of molybdenum powder was RMB 560/kg, increased by 29.03% year-on-year; and the average price of molybdenum bars was RMB 564/kg, increased by 21.29% year-on-year.
