Molybdenum market update on January 26, 2026

On Monday, the domestic molybdenum market overall maintained stable operation, mainly attributed to both buyers and sellers maintaining rigid transactions, industry players having general confidence in the future market, and no major news releases at the industry level.

Today, molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and ammonium heptamolybdate prices were approximately RMB 4,050 per tonne-degree, RMB 263,000/ton, and RMB 254,000/ton respectively. Recently, steel enterprises entering the market to tender for ferromolybdenum include Guangdong Shaogang, Baowu Egang, Shanxi Taigang, Northeast Special Steel, Wugang Xiangzhong, Baowu Egang, Deyang Erzhong, etc.

On the news front: According to data compiled by CTIA GROUP LTD from customs, in 2025 China's molybdenum products exports totaled 32,162,100 tonnes, decreased by 24.36% year-on-year; cumulative export value amounted to RMB 7.466 billion, decreased by 21.75% year-on-year. By export value, the top ten export destinations for China's molybdenum products in 2025 were South Korea, Indonesia, India, Japan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States.
