Molybdenum market update on December 1, 2025

On Monday, the domestic molybdenum market overall showed a trend of stabilization, mainly attributed to enhanced production cost support and relatively acceptable downstream user inquiry and procurement enthusiasm.

According to CTIA GROUP LTD, most molybdenum product prices clearly decreased last week, which to a large extent forced suppliers to heighten their profit awareness; in the current context of molybdenum prices being at relatively low levels and good development trend in molybdenum downstream industries, market demand performance remains acceptable. Today, molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum and ammonium tetramolybdate prices are approximately RMB 3,650 per tonne-degree, RMB 239,000/ton and RMB 231,000/ton respectively.

On the news front, among the 16 steel industry products closely monitored by the Baotou City Industry and Information Technology Bureau in September, high-carbon ferrochrome had the highest month-on-month increase, with an average price of RMB 8,469/ton, increased by RMB 444/ton month-on-month, up 5.5%; I-beam had the highest month-on-month decrease, with an average price of RMB 3,550/ton, decreased by RMB 83/ton month-on-month, down 2.3%. Hot-rolled coil had the highest year-on-year increase, with an average price of RMB 3,360/ton, increased by RMB 256/ton year-on-year, up 8.2%; coke had the highest year-on-year decrease, with an average price of RMB 1,428/ton, decreased by RMB 213/ton year-on-year, down 13.0%.
