Molybdenum market update on November 17, 2025

On Monday, the overall domestic molybdenum market showed slight improvement, mainly reflected in downstream users' acceptable inquiry and procurement enthusiasm, strengthened reluctance among suppliers to sell and price-supporting sentiment, and continued increases in prices of most molybdenum products.

Today, molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum and molybdenum oxide prices increased to approximately RMB 3,790 per ton-unit, RMB 247,000 per ton and RMB 3,910 per ton-unit, respectively. According to CTIA GROUP LTD, the sharp decline in molybdenum prices earlier and the recent relatively low price levels are the main reasons enhancing buyers' consumption desire. Recently, steel enterprises entering the market to tender for ferromolybdenum include Shandong Iron & Steel Laiwu, Fushun Special Steel, Zhongnan Iron & Steel, Shandong Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Zhongnan Co., Ltd., Angang Co., Ltd., Maanshan Iron & Steel, etc.

Price monitoring data from Jiangxi Steel Market and Fuzhou Trading Plaza Steel Market show that in October, among the 44 monitored steel product varieties, sales prices showed 0 increases, 41 decreases and 3 stable month-on-month. Wire rod (high-line 6.5, HPB300 and high-line 8, HPB300) average sales prices were RMB 3,493.75 per ton and RMB 3,358.75 per ton respectively, decreased by 1.65% and 1.72% month-on-month respectively, decreased by 11.47% and 13.24% year-on-year respectively. Rebar (φ12mm HRB400E) average sales price was RMB 3,238.75 per ton, decreased by 1.63% month-on-month, decreased by 12.32% year-on-year.
