Sodium Molybdate Prices - December 30, 2024

At the start of the week, the domestic molybdenum market continues to operate steadily.

 Influenced by factors such as strong price-supporting sentiment among molybdenum mining enterprises, moderate interest in inquiries from downstream users, price suppression by steel enterprises, a lukewarm international molybdenum market, stricter environmental policies, and a high USD to RMB exchange rate, product prices fluctuate within a narrow range, with average transaction volumes. Market participants expect the market to maintain stable operations in the short term.

Today, transaction prices for molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and sodium molybdate are approximately RMB 3,600/tonne-grade, RMB 233,000/ton, and RMB 164,000/ton, respectively.

In related news, data from the China Iron and Steel Association shows that in November 2024, daily prodction volumes for medium and heavy plate mills reached 194,000 tons, down 2.3% month-on-month and up 0.4% year-on-year. Daily production volumes for hot-rolling mills reached 526,000 tons, up 2.1% month-on-month and 1.3% year-on-year. Daily production for cold-rolling mills reached 216,000 tons, down 2.0% month-on-month and 3.4% year-on-year.
