Molybdenum Powder Price - August 19, 2024

At the beginning of the week, the domestic molybdenum market continued to maintain stable operations, with prices for molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and molybdenum powder at approximately 3,660 yuan per ton-degree, 239,000 yuan per ton, and 435 yuan per kilogram, respectively.

According to Chinatungsten Online, the favorable factors in the market include: first, steel companies have shown decent enthusiasm in procurement inquiries, with the total amount of ferromolybdenum ordered in August already exceeding 8,000 tons, leading to the possibility that this month’s total steel orders may surpass 10,000 tons. Second, the recent continuous increase in international molybdenum prices has helped to boost the domestic molybdenum market. However, the unfavorable factor is that the steel market is performing poorly, which makes it difficult for steel companies to raise their bids for ferromolybdenum.

According to information from the Jiangxi Development and Reform Commission, price monitoring data from the Jiangxi Steel Market and Fuzhou Trading Plaza Steel Market showed that in July, out of 44 steel products monitored in Jiangxi Province, prices for 3 increased, 40 decreased, and 1 remained unchanged month-on-month. The average sales prices of wire rods (high wire 6.5, HPB300 and high wire 8, HPB300) were 3,764.00 yuan/ton and 3,711.00 yuan/ton, respectively, down slightly by 2.83% and 2.95% month-on-month, and down 9.19% and 9.93% year-on-year, respectively. The average sales price of rebar (φ12mm HRB400E) was 3,439.00 yuan/ton, down 4.47% month-on-month and 12.02% year-on-year.
