Molybdenum Powder Price - August 12, 2024

At the beginning of the week, Chinese molybdenum price remained relatively stable, with molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and molybdenum powder quoted at around 3,650 yuan/ton, 239,000 yuan/ton, and 440 yuan/kg, respectively. 

According to Chinatungsten Online, due to factors such as the difficulty in finding low-cost sources, limited consumption capacity of downstream users, and the scarcity of spot market supplies, molybdenum raw material suppliers generally maintained a strong pricing stance, while the growth rate of market orders remained slow.

In related news, among the 14 steel products monitored by the Baotou Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, the prices of 12 products, including rebar, seamless pipes, and high-speed wire rods, declined on a week-over-week basis. Iron concentrate experienced the largest decrease, with an average price of 993 yuan/ton, down 76 yuan/ton, a decrease of 7.1%. Rebar averaged 3,581 yuan/ton, down 109 yuan/ton. On a year-over-year basis, cold-rolled coil (2mm) saw the largest drop, with an average price of 4,205 yuan/ton, down 413 yuan/ton, a decrease of 8.9%. Pig iron experienced the smallest decline, averaging 2,938 yuan/ton, down 77 yuan/ton, a decrease of 2.6%.
