Despite the challenges posed by relatively high molybdenum product prices and declining international molybdenum prices, the domestic molybdenum market faced difficulties in rekindling momentum.

However, the continuous procurement by downstream users and the high production costs played a significant role in bolstering the confidence of suppliers in maintaining firm pricing. According to information from Chinatungsten Online, the current prices are approximately 3,330 yuan per ton for molybdenum concentrate, 222,000 yuan per ton for ferro molybdenum, and 432 yuan per kilogram for molybdenum powder.

In terms of news, data from the China Iron and Steel Industry Association indicates that in early January 2023, social inventories of five major steel varieties in 21 cities amounted to 7.81 million tons, reflecting a 7.1% increase compared to the previous period but a 7.7% decrease compared to the same period last year. Regionally, inventory in East China showed the largest increment with a 5.7% rise, while North China experienced the highest growth rate at 11.6%. Southwest China saw a 9.3% increase, South China rose by 6.1%, Central China increased by 6.8%, Northwest China increased by 7.4%, and Northeast China rose by 2.6%.
