Molybdenum market quotation: sodium molybdate, ammonium molybdate and ammonium heptamolvbdate prices edge higher on October 25, 2023, driven by the relatively favorable downstream demand and the limited inventory of spot goods in the market. 

Suppliers, in general, have a strong willingness to maintain their price levels. However, due to the recent sluggish performance of international molybdenum prices and the less-than-ideal conditions in the steel market, some buyers are adopting a more cautious attitude. In the short term, market participants are closely monitoring the situation regarding molybdenum mining enterprises' shipments and the dynamics of steel demand and prices.

In the molybdenum concentrate market, trading activity remains relatively high, primarily due to downstream users' willingness to make purchases and the significant recent increase in molybdenum concentrate prices. In the molybdenum iron market, overall performance is under pressure. Although steel companies have participated in centralized tenders and tender prices have increased, it remains challenging to eliminate the cost inversion risk faced by intermediate smelting enterprises. This is mainly because the increase in molybdenum raw material prices has been slightly greater than the increase in steel tender prices. In the molybdenum chemicals and products market, the situation is generally stable. End customers are maintaining their rigid demand, while holding companies are making rational price adjustments in line with the rising prices of molybdenum raw materials.

In terms of news, on October 24, 2023, the sales prices of molybdenum concentrate at Luanchuan Molybdenum Mine were notable. The transaction prices for molybdenum concentrate with a molybdenum content of 47% and above ranged from 3,295 to 3,425 CNY per metric ton, with a total transaction volume of 420 tons. For molybdenum concentrate with a molybdenum content of 50% and above, the transaction prices were in the range of 3,295 to 3,300 CNY per metric ton, with a total transaction volume of 180 tons.
