China Molybdenum Price - January 18, 2023

China molybdenum price has not changed significantly on January 18, 2023 because most market participants are on the Lunar New Year holiday. 

With the gradual weakening of favorable factors, many traders have become more wait-and-see, which has led to greater resistance to the rise in the price of molybdenum products and a slowdown in the growth rate of actual orders. Currently, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum and molybdenum powder are about 4,550 yuan/ton, 302,000 yuan/ton and 530 yuan/kg respectively.

From the perspective of positive factors, under the situation that the tight spot supply of molybdenum raw materials has not been resolved and the current molybdenum price is at a relatively high level, there are still some steel companies such as Hunan Henggang, Hengyang Valin Steel Pipe, etc., and end customers are willing to enter the market to consume molybdenum product. From the point of view of negative factors, when the end of the year comes, most molybdenum downstream enterprises are more and more tense in capital. In addition, the current price of molybdenum products is high, and buyers are more hesitant to consume, resulting in a slight decrease in market transactions compared with the previous period.

News: According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, China's crude steel output will be 1,013 million tons in 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%; pig iron output will be 863.83 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.8%; Among them, the output of crude steel in December was 77.89 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.8%; the output of pig iron was 69 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.6%; the output of steel products was 111.93 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.6%.
