From the point of view of performance, the friction coefficient of MoS2 coating is low (dynamic friction coefficient is 0.03, static friction coefficient is 0.07), which helps to avoid carbon accumulation, and is better than graphite and polytetrafluoroethylene. It has excellent high and low temperature resistance, can withstand loads of 10,000 psi, and has an operating temperature range of -460°F to 1200°F; excellent biocompatibility, compatible with most oils and greases, and maintains a hydrodynamic layer; excellent chemical stability, can prevent water, water vapor and acid from corroding metals; non-toxic, environmentally friendly, non-radioactive, etc.

The main reason why the friction coefficient of molybdenum disulfide coating is low is that MoS2 is a layered material with a sandwich structure, and the S-Mo-S unit layer is stacked. The atomic layers of molybdenum are connected by covalent bonds, and the unit layers are connected by van der Waals force.

From the point of view of use, MoS2 coating is mainly used in friction parts of mechanical equipment, which can improve the mechanical properties and service life of mechanical equipment, making it more suitable for use in extreme environments, and reducing maintenance problems and replacing new parts The probability. In addition, MoS2 dry film coating is also convenient to use, does not require heat curing or baking, does not require any chemical agents or adhesives, and can be directly coated or sprayed on parts.
