China Molybdenum Price - July 22, 2022

China molybdenum price showed a continuous downward trend as a whole in the week ended on Friday, July 22, 2022. With the gradual increase of negative factors, the buyer's market has a greater advantage, which is mainly reflected in the high willingness of suppliers to cut prices and the strong sentiment of the industry to bear the market outlook. 

According to Chinatungsten Online, the current prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum and molybdenum oxide have fallen below RMB 2,600/ton, RMB 169,000/ton and RMB 2,700/ton respectively.

The positive factors include: firstly, stimulated by the obvious decline in the price of molybdenum raw materials, steel companies and end customers are more motivated to purchase at bargain prices, which has led to a rapid growth in orders; Considerable impact, some molybdenum production enterprises began to enter the state of maintenance, resulting in limited release of production capacity, which is conducive to the seller's price.

The negative factors include: First, the cooling of the international molybdenum market and the sharp drop in the price of molybdenum have prompted a large increase in the import of molybdenum raw materials in my country, which in turn restrained the rise of the domestic molybdenum market and the rise in molybdenum prices. Second, under the influence of the continuous downturn of the steel market, the price reduction psychology of steel enterprises has generally increased, which is not conducive to the increase of molybdenum prices.

News: The latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that from January to June 2022, China's cumulative production of steel bars was 117.69 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.1%; of which the June output was 20.061 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 19.3%. From January to June, the cumulative output of medium-thick and wide steel strip in China was 96.003 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%; of which the June output was 16.949 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. From January to June, the cumulative output of wire rod (wire rod) in China was 7,138.2 tons, down 13.8% year-on-year; among them, the output in June was 13.054 million tons, down 7.8% year-on-year.
