Molybdenum Powder Price - June 1, 2022

Molybdenum market quotation in China: ammonium molybdate, ammonium heptamolvbdate and molybdenum powder prices remained unchanged in the first trading day in June 2022. 

Under the mutual influence of many favorable and unfavorable factors, the negotiation atmosphere between buyers and sellers is slightly stalemate, and they do not offer mutual benefits, so the transaction level has not yet reached the best level. However, most industry players still have great confidence in the stable operation of the market outlook. 

From the perspective of positive factors, first, steel companies have successively entered the market to bid for ferromolybdenum, which has greatly enhanced the confidence of suppliers to firm up their quotations; second, since June 1, Shanghai will resume work and production in a comprehensive and orderly manner. The increased confidence in the market has played a big boosting role; thirdly, the domestic and foreign logistics and transportation channels have gradually become smoother, and the exchange rate of RMB is relatively high, which is conducive to the warming of the molybdenum export market.

From the perspective of negative factors, first, in the context of tepid steel market, the price of steel is not very impressive, so it is difficult to increase the price of ferromolybdenum; second, the international molybdenum market is weak and stalemate, which may hinder the bottoming and rebound of the domestic molybdenum market; third, the global new crown epidemic has not yet ended and the monkeypox virus has struck again, resulting in great uncertainty in the global economic forecast, which in turn enhances the purchasing prudence of downstream users.

In terms of news: China Iron and Steel Association data show that from January to April 2022, my country exported 18.156 million tons of steel, down 29.2% from the same period last year; exported 171,000 tons of steel billets; equivalent to 11.673 million tons of crude steel net exports, down from the same period last year 6.67 million tons; imported steel was 4.174 million tons, down 14.7% from the same period last year; imported billets were 2.927 million tons, down 8.9% from the same period last year. Among them, my country exported 4.977 million tons of steel in April, a decrease of 2.996 million tons compared with the same period last year; imported steel was 956,000 tons, a decrease of 218,000 tons compared with the same period last year.
