China’s domestic molybdenum market as a whole presents a stable, moderately strong pattern on January 12, 2022. Affected by the approach of the Spring Festival and the continuous tension of the epidemic in many places such as Henan and Xi'an, the production capacity release of molybdenum production enterprises has been limited to a certain extent and the logistics and transportation have slowed down, which has greatly improved the downstream market. 

In the molybdenum concentrate market, the rhythm of transactions is acceptable. Under the background that ferro-molybdenum merchants are willing to receive the goods and the raw material prices are considerable, molybdenum mining enterprises generally have a high awareness of being safe in their pockets, and there are still many industry players who are optimistic about the market outlook. There are expectations, the current price of molybdenum concentrate is about 2,400 yuan / ton.

In the ferromolybdenum market, the trading atmosphere in the market is good, the price of steel is acceptable and the low-priced supply is difficult to obtain, which is the main reason for the confidence of the intermediate smelters to firm up their quotations. Previously, the price of ferromolybdenum exceeded 160,000 yuan/ton.

In the market of molybdenum chemical industry and its products, the market situation improved slightly. Stimulated by the strong bullish sentiment of upstream merchants, the quotations of molybdenum chemical companies also increased. The prices of ammonium tetramolybdate and molybdenum powder rose to 157,000 yuan/ton and 303 yuan/kg respectively, but the demand of end customers needs to be followed up.

In terms of news: Statistics from the China Iron and Steel Association show that in late December 2021, the steel inventory of key iron and steel enterprises was 11.2969 million tons, a decrease of 2.2732 million tons or 16.75% month-on-month; a decrease of 1.1874 million tons or 9.51% from the end of last month ; 324,200 tons less than the beginning of the year, a decrease of 2.79%; 324,200 tons less than the same period last year, a decrease of 2.79%.
