Molybdenum in the crust abundances approximately 1 × 10-6, in igneous rocks ,granite has the highest amount of molybdenum ,reach 2 × 10-6. Molybdenum in geochemical classification, is belong to transitional pro-iron. Including the role of generating ore, molybdenum and sulfur combine mainly produce molybdenite. Molybdenite (MoS2) is the nature of 30 kinds of known molybdenum minerals most widely distributed and has a real industrial value molybdenum minerals. Other more common minerals include iron-containing molybdenum molybdenum China ([Fe3 + (MoO4) 8.8 H2O]), calcium molybdate mine (CaMoO4), wulfenite (PbMoO4), glue molybdenum sulfide (MoS2), molybdenum blue mine (Mo3O8 · nH2O) and so on.
Molybdenite polymorphism exists, experiments showed that the emergence and formation of multi-type temperature, 2H-type molybdenite formation temperature is higher than 3R type molybdenite. From low to high temperatures to form amorphous MoS2 → colloidal MoS2 → 3MoS2 → 2HMoS2. Temperature information on the formation temperature of molybdenite has a wide range, can be quite high since until relatively low temperature, while the formation of a large number of high to medium temperature phase. Under the hydrothermal, MoS2 precipitation in the more acidic conditions, i.e. molybdenite most stable under acidic conditions, when the solution to neutral, the molybdenum into a soluble molybdate and molybdate thio and further activities . At low temperature and under normal temperature conditions, Mo4 + in strongly acidic sulfur-reducing environment generated glue molybdenite (MoS2), which is the product of oxidation of molybdenum blue (Mo3O8 · nH2O). It is similar with the uranium at near neutral or alkaline oxidation and reduction of the transition stable environment, thereby generating a variety of minerals containing uranium molybdates, such as molybdenum, uranium [(UO2) MoO4 · 4H2O], molybdenum uranium calcium [Ca (UO2) 3 (MoO4) · (OH) 2.11 H2O] and so on. Fe-Mo China [Fe2 (MoO4) 3 · nH2O] sulfide ores under acidic conditions (pH = 3 ~ 5) to form a common mineral. Wulfenite molybdenum containing lead and zinc in the neutral condition of the product. Rhenium and molybdenum similar ionic radius, so frequent replacement of molybdenum and enriched in molybdenite, becoming a major source of industrial rhenium. Molybdenite rhenium content is often associated with molybdenite mineralization 3R-type content and solution of rhenium content.
