Molybdenum's prime alloy is TZM. It offers twice the strength of pure molybdenum at temperatures up to 1400°C. The recrystallization temperature of TZM is approximately 250°C higher than molybdenum and it offers better weldability.
Nominal Composition in Percent:
Ti 0.5
Zr 0.08
C 0.02
Mo Balance
Density: 10.16 g/cc at 20 °C
Recrystallization Temperature: 1425 to 1595 °C
Stress-Relief Temperature: 1 hour at 1095 to 1260 °C
Liquidus Temperature: 2620 °C
Coefficient of Linear Expansion: 4.9 μm/m ? K at 20 to 40 °C
Elastic Modulus: Tension, 315 GPa (46 × 106 psi) at 20 °C;
205 GPa (30 × 106 psi) at 1095 °C
Applications:
Components for HIP, sintering and heat treatment furnaces
Metals for rotating anodes for medical diagnostics
Boats for annealing and sintering processes (temperatures up to 1400 °C)
Forming tools such as hot runner nozzles for plastic injection moulding
Moulds for light-alloy casting
Billets for the isothermal forging
