Minerals of Molybdenum

One of the oldest forms of molybdenum grease is the natural mineral molybdenite. This form was discovered by prospectors and settlers moving across the American West; these individuals recognized its unique lubricating properties.

That fact makes the use of molybdenum in fertilizers a common occurrence. Molybdenum is also added to pigments to make those colors more stable and less susceptible to corrosion.
