Molybdenum (Mo) is a refractory metallic element that readily forms hard, stable carbides and has the sixth-highest melting point of any element. Molybdenum is most commonly used as a high temperature, corrosion resistant metal alloy in steel, cast iron and super alloys for the military and defense, semiconductor and specialty machine shops.
Nickel molybdenum alloy Hastelloy B - 2 of carbon, silicon content is extremely low, reduce the welding heat affected zone carbon and other impurity phase precipitation, so its weld also has enough corrosion resistance. Hastelloy B - 2 in the reducing medium has the very good corrosion resistance, such as all kinds of temperature and concentration of hydrochloric acid solution. In the medium concentration of sulfuric acid solution (or contain a certain amount of chloride ion) also has the very good corrosion resistance. At the same time can also be used to acetic acid and phosphoric acid environment. Alloy material only in appropriate metallographic state and pure crystal structure can have the best corrosion resistance. In the chemical, petrochemical, energy production and pollution control in the field has a wide range of applications, especially in sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, etc in the industry.
Molybdenum enhances hardenability, strength, toughness, and resistance to wear and corrosion. This versatility makes Molybdenum a fixture in contemporary industrial technology, which increasingly requires materials that can withstand high stress, expanded temperature ranges and highly corrosive environments, all without significantly expanding or softening.
