The mechanical properties and the microstructure of structural low-alloy nickel—molybdenum steel with various carbon contents were studied.
The specimens were produced from N2M powder partially alloyed with graphite by two methods: single compaction and sintering.
And hot pressing of porous stock. Heat-treated hot-pressed steel with a carbon content of 0.4–0.7% has a breaking strength of 1300–1400 MPa, a bending strength of 2200–2300 MPa.
The materials developed are suitable for fabrication of powder-metallurgy parts with enhanced physical and mechanical properties.
