Corrosion Behavior of A Cobaltchromium-Molybdenum Alloy

The combination of electrochemical techniques contributed to the knowledge of the corrosion mechanism of cobaltchromium  molybdenum alloy under in vitro conditions.

The corrosion resistance of this alloy in 0.15 M NaCl was higher than the resistance of those presented by the cobalt and chromium under the same experimental conditions.

The X-ray diffraction technique permitted identification of some phases formed on the surface. Its corrosion mechanism involves the spontaneous formation of a film with dielectric properties, which protects the metal surface.
