Using powder metallurgic method produce TZM alloy which contain different dopping amount of Zr and study the effect of different Zr dopping amount on TZM alloy’s microstructure and properties. The dopping amount of Zr has a significant effect on TZM alloy’s microstructure, in all kind of metals Zr’s solution strength effect is only lower than Hf in the Mo and Zr in Mo also can form dispersion carbonide particle which not only can improve TZM alloy’s mechanical properties, but also improve alloy’s recrystallization temperature to make sure that the alloy has better strength in the high temperature.
After analysis found with Zr dopping amount increase, Ti and Zr gathering in the grain boundary and with Zr dopping amount increase the phenomenon of gathering is more and more serious which influence alloy overall performance. On the other hand, observing TZM alloy’s microstructure found with Zr dopping amount increase show up a lots of black massive second phase. Testing by spectrometry found these black massive are oxide of Ti and Zr and simple substance and they can effectively prevent dislocation movement and has greater strengthening effect but bring some troubles on alloy’s heating processes and increase alloy’s brittleness.
Comparing different Zr dopping amount effect TZM alloy’s micro-hardness in the room temperature found Zr dopping amount at 0.07% the hardness of alloy is the biggest. And when Zr dopping amount at 0.07% the deformation resistance of alloy at 1300 and 1400℃ is also the biggest.
