During cogging and hot-rolled processes, due to high heating temperature the TZM-La2o3 alloy plate billet will form an oxide layer and suction layer on surface, so the rolling process inevitably there will be some fine lines. The shedding scale cinder will be pressed into the TZM-La2o3 alloy plate surface, forming pits and pitting. In addition, the burr which on the edge of the alloy billet, the alloy surface foreign material and refractory materials which in the furnace (such as alumina particles in furnace tube) at high temperature will be pressed into the alloy plate surface to form a surface indentation, and so these serious flaws affecting the quality of the TZM-La2o3 alloy plate. In order to successfully carry out the follow-up process the alloy should employ cleaning process in the middle process.
Molybdenum will react with molten KOH and NaOH at about 660 ℃ and the reaction will go fast when adding KNO3, NaNO3, KCLO4 and other similar oxidant. People take advantage of this feature of molybdenum using caustic fusion method to cleaning TZM-La2o3 alloy plate in the middle processes.
